Pollution

There is a growing public awareness and knowledge about poor indoor air quality and its alarming health effects. More and more people are suffering from asthma, allergies and heart and vascular disease as well as more direct health problems related to the indoor air quality like fatigue, headache and concentration difficulties.

Indoor air pollution is affected by both pollutants from the outside such as traffic fumes, pollen, industrial pollution, and indoor pollutants such as dust, smoke, VOCs, virus, and pet allergens.

LightAir air purifiers are super effective in handling the smallest and most harmful pollution particles in the air. We make a difference in the air that will make a difference to your health.

We can really make a difference.
To the air and to your health.

All people on earth are exposed to air pollution. However the people who may be exposed the longest periods of time are often those most sensitive to the effects of indoor air pollution. Such groups include the young, the elderly and the chronically ill, especially those suffering from respiratory or cardiovascular disease.

Indoor air pollution is something that you can do something about and LightAir effectively reduces the most harmful particles from the air.

Outside. Inside. They are everywhere!

Particles spring from many sources of pollution from both indoors and outdoors.

Outdoor pollutants:

  • Traffic pollution (vehicles, train, ships, planes)
  • Industrial pollution
  • Pollen

Indoor pollutants:

  • Dust
  • Mold
  • Pet allergen
  • Microbes (virus, bacteria)
  • Smoke
  • VOCs

Living in the toxic box? You cannot shut the door on air pollution.

The horrifying thruth is that most buildings and houses function like large vacuum cleaners whereby we spend most of our time “in the filter bag” – e.g. indoors – an absurd situation but unfortunately the truth.

A growing body of scientific evidence has indicated that the air within homes and other buildings is up to 10 times more polluted than the outdoor air in even the largest and most industrialized cities. On top of that people spend approximately 90 percent of their time indoors. Thus, for many people, the health risks  to exposure to air pollution is immense.

Experts say this is because fumes from trains and traffic, pesticides, industrial pollution and pollen are trapped inside well-insulated homes, where they take much longer to clear without any wind or rain to help.

Inadequate ventilation can increase indoor pollutants like combustion sources such as oil, gas, coal, wood, and tobacco products; building materials and furnishings as diverse as asbestos-containing insulation, wet or damp carpet, and furniture made of certain pressed wood products; products for household cleaning and maintenance, personal care, or hobbies; central heating and cooling systems and humidification devices. The indoor climate also creates a living friendly environment for bacteria, fungus and virus to grow in.

How air pollution gets to your health.

After many studies of people who have been exposed to SBS (Sick Building Syndrom) or other polluted environments it has become clear that a polluted environment is the cause of the following symptoms:

  • allergy
  • asthma
  • irritation in eyes and throat
  • cardio and vascular decease
  • respiratory decease
  • fatigue, concentration difficulties, headache, irritation, depression
  • virus and bacteria attacks

How can I improve my indoor air environment?

It is unfortunately not as simple as open your window and let in some “fresh” air, especially not if you live in a big city. The outdoor air in cities is dangerous and should pass through the ventilation system before entering. A good advice to solve air quality problems in apartments, homes and offices, involve actions like eliminating or controlling the sources of pollution, increasing ventilation, and installing air purifiers.
