Ferrocon improves air quality with LightAir

Ferrocon, a welding and forging company with around 30 employees, operates in premises with particular air quality challenges. Mats Karlsson, manager at Ferrocon, realized it was time to take a new approach to the work environment when one of the welders started showing asthma symptoms.

"We must do what we can for our staff"

After a survey by Avonova, measurements showed that air quality needed to be improved. Mats explains:

- "We already have ventilation systems and local exhaust ventilation, but when one of our welders started showing signs of asthma, we realized that might not be enough. And of course we wanted to make sure that our employees are well, especially those in the toughest environment."

At the right time, Ferrocon was contacted by LightAir. Mats became curious and thought that their air purifiers might be the solution. After a thorough evaluation, Mats decided to install air cleaners in five of the production facilities.

Improvements you can feel - in the air and in your well-being

The impact of the installations became clear quickly. Ferrocon could soon see that the filters were capturing a lot of particles that had previously been circulating in the air. The temperature in the premises also improved, which was an unexpected effect that will make the working environment more comfortable during colder months.

- "I see for myself how many particles get caught in the filters, and it feels like we have a more airy and cleaner environment. For me, it's important that our employees are able to work all day and feel that we care about their health," says Mats.

A long-term commitment to employee health

Mats sees the investment in air purifiers as a way to give back to those who work hard every day.

- "It feels like an obvious decision. If we can do something to make our employees feel better and have more energy, I think we have an obligation to do it."

Although the improvements are already evident, Mats is looking forward to seeing the results of the air purification now that fall and winter are coming. He hopes to be able to measure the effect and possibly expand the use of air purifiers to other parts of the business.

Mats advises other businesses: invest in air quality!

He encourages other companies in the industry to consider similar solutions. "I think many people underestimate the importance of good air in the workplace. And we also want to attract younger generations who are much more aware of occupational health and safety."

Mats concludes by expressing his appreciation for the smooth installation process.

- "It was easy, quick and hardly disrupted our production at all. Plus, LightAir offers regular service, so we don't have to worry about maintenance."
